The River Slea, Haverholme.
£35.00
Small Giclee Print – Approx Size 210 mm x 148.5 mm
Peter was born and raised in Sleaford and many of his painting reflect that. This original oil painting is still available and giclee prints of the painting are also available.
The river Slea has its origins at Boiling Wells, a few miles to the west of the town. Although it is only a very small river, running through the centre of the town of Sleaford, I do remember the whole of the town centre being flooded once, when I was a small boy.
Haverholme Priory was a Gilbertine house, founded in 1139. However, there were always problems with water on this wet island near the river Slea, and the first monastic colony eventually moved on to Louth.
